Prior to joining Masergy, Franz held Engineering and Leadership roles at companies small and large, within IT, Manufacturing and Service Provider organizations.

Rick Mischka

A former Army Special Forces Sergeant, Rick has worked his way into the cybersecurity space with a focus on helping customers become more aware of technologies that grow the cyber-resiliency of their security profile.

As a subject matter expert and strategy leader for Comcast Business|Masergy, he is tasked with highlighting the importance of managed security services on the overall security posture of organizations.  Understanding the cyber technology landscape is a daunting task.  Rick is passionate about educating others on the importance of choosing the right technology stack complemented by an integral and trusted managed security service partnership.

Skip Newberry

Skip is a frequent speaker on topics related to technology and entrepreneurship trends and policies, economic development, public-private partnerships and civic innovation. Before joining the TAO, Skip served as an economic development policy advisor to Portland Mayor Sam Adams, where he helped create Portland’s first comprehensive economic development strategy in 16 years, recognizing software as a key industry cluster. While at the City of Portland, Skip’s projects included the adoption of the nation’s first open-source software procurement policy at the municipal level, an award-winning regional open data initiative and the development of resources to support entrepreneurship, like the Portland Seed Fund.

Chris Palermo

Chris Palermo is a global specialist within Cisco’s Worldwide Collaboration Sales organization where he works closely with product development, product marketing, Cisco customers, and Cisco partners to educate and evangelize Cisco’s hybrid work and team collaboration strategy.  

Palermo was named one of the Top-50 Unified Comms Influencers by Mio in their 2019 list thanks to his active presence on social media, sharing thoughts and perspectives on unified communication, collaboration, remote work, artificial intelligence, workplace transformation and workforce experience.

Prior to joining Cisco, Chris spent twelve years with global management consulting firm, Accenture, where he was an executive and one of the founding members of their Portals, Content, and Collaboration group. 


Damon Runberg

Damon Runberg is the State Economist at Business Oregon. He supports the statewide economic development goals by tracking and analyzing economic indicators critical to Oregon’s workers and businesses. He also evaluates the effectiveness of Oregon’s economic development strategies and incentives. Prior to working with Business Oregon Damon was the Regional Economist with the Oregon Employment Department for the East Cascades of Oregon for nearly 12 years.

Paul Van Lierop

Paul has been in Technology for 25+ years, breaking ground in the Dot.Com era, building the Internet facing networks for Microsoft for 10 years. Fun fact: he designed and deployed the original Windows Azure networks. He transitioned to the technical sales side at Cisco covering cloud providers and then SD-WAN before joining Cato 2 years ago. He’s married with 3 kids (2 adults and a 9 year old because life was getting too easy). You’ll find him either working with partners on the road or at home in Bozeman Montana in his Enchanted Tiki Office/Bar.
